New Barcelona Signing Yerry Mina Was Named After “Tom and Jerry”

“His mom named him after the cartoons”

FC Barcelona newest player was named after a cartoon mouse. Not kidding. His dad José Eulises Mina has confirmed it in an interview with Mundo Deportivo:

“It was his mother who picked the name. We really liked the Tom and Jerry cartoons and that’s where she chose the name, although we decided to use a Y.”

I guess his parents didn’t want people to call him “Herry.” Take note, James Rodríguez.

We’re all eagerly awaiting Mina to partner Thomas Vermaelen in defense (so, Tom and Yerry), or at least to partner Gerard Piqué (for Geri-Yerry).
