Guardiola equals Frank Rijkaard

Submitted by on February 5, 2012 – 05:17No Comment

With the win this Saturday, Pep Guardiola brings his tally of games won on the FC Barcelona bench to 160. The manager has only conceded 44 draws and 18 defeats in his three and a half years at FC Barcelona. His record has allowed him to guide the first team to 13 titles out of 16 played since he was named head coach.

Guardiola equals Frank Rijkaards record of games won. The Dutchman trained Bara from 2003 to 2008. During that time he won 160 games, tied 63 and lost 50. Guardiolas next challenge is to catch Johan Cruyffs record of 250 wins (the Bara manager was at the Azulgrana helm for 430 official matches).

601 games for Bara between his playing and coaching careers

This Saturday was Guardiolas 601st game with the first team. He played 379 in the Bara colours as a first-team player and against Real Sociedad he completed his 222nd match as the Bara manager. Guardiola, who made history as a player, is now making history as the Bara coach.
